Sending and receiving without mistakes

Transfers are final. A short routine removes almost every way to lose funds.

Match the network

The same coin often exists on several networks. Sending on the wrong one usually means the funds are stranded.

Copy the network name from the receiving side first, then choose it on the sending side. Never the other way around.

The test transfer

Send a tiny amount first. Wait for it to arrive. Only then send the rest.

The few cents in fees are the cheapest insurance in this whole field.

Check for clipboard swaps

Some malware silently replaces a copied address with the attacker's. After pasting, compare the first four and last four characters against the original.

Worth remembering

  • Confirm the network before the amount.
  • Always do a small test transfer first.
  • Verify the first and last characters after pasting.
